Mr. George Yancey, age 82, of Eastman died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Rev. Graton Helms and Rev. Roy Locke officiating. Interment will follow in Benevolence Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Yancey was born July 31, 1933 in Eastman, Ga. to parents, Bertha Mae Foster and Charlie C. Yancey. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Benevolence Methodist Church. Mr. Yancey was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Locke Yancey of Eastman; Children, Melinda Roberson (Charles) of Eastman, Sandra Thomas of Knoxville, Tn., Daniel Todd (Heather) of Pelham, Ga., and Martin Smith of Oregon; siblings, Aliene Warchak of Macon, Ga., Nettie Justice of Augusta, Ga., Velma Shouse Ryals (Tommy) of Eastman, and Reuben Yancey (Grace) of Eastman; Five Grandchildren and Four Great Grandchildren; Canine friends, Petey, Nicole, Nicky, and Cinnamon.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Yancey was predeceased by his sister, Christine Bohannon.
The family may be contacted at the Yancey residence, 664 Jordon Brown Rd. and will receive friends from 6 til 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
