Obituary

Victoria Jean Sellers Grenade, age 86 of Eastman, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019 at Serenity Place in Dublin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm at Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with a brief memorial service following at 7pm in the chapel. Officiating the service will be Evangelist Beverly Worthen and Rev. Tim Barnes.
She was born on April 5, 1933 to Sarah Warren Sellers and William Franklin Sellers. She eloped and married William Henry Grenade in July 1948, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Victoria loved to sew and crochet. Her hands were rarely still and she created beautiful things. From dresses to drapes and afghans to doilies and names, she shared her talent in her creations with everyone.
Victoria worked hard her entire life. She was able to become a stay-at-home mom in 1967. She loved to cook and take care of her children. After she couldn't use her hands due to arthritis, Victoria enjoyed reading (almost one book per day) and loved doing crossword puzzles.
She enjoyed living in her youngest son's home, Briar Cottage, for the past 19 years and enjoyed reading cookbooks and sharing her personal recipes with the community through her son's eatery, Roy's. Victoria was often seen sitting at her son's store and visiting with all who entered it.
She had a love for being at home and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds outside her bedroom window. She had a green thumb and enjoyed being in the yard amongst the pine trees.
Victoria enjoyed spending time with her youngest son and caregiver, Roy. He took up the most time with her on a daily basis and they were inseparable. She had a special bond with him and often told everyone he was her favorite and loved him the most.
Victoria was a founding member and current member of Greenlawn Baptist Church and loved music. Through the years, she was known to donate funds to buy music for many churches including McRae Methodist Church. And, for many years, she was a secret Santa to a family in our community.
Victoria is survived by her children Caulion (Phyllis) Grenade of Dalton, Cecil (Mary Beth) Grenade of Lakeland, Florida, John (Cindy) Grenade of Eastman, Johnny Ray (Kim) Grenade of McRae, Leon (Stephanie) Grenade of Eastman, and Roy Grenade of Eastman; a special niece Willene (Buster) Grubbs of Macon and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.
Serving as pallbearers are friends who held a special friendship with Victoria. They are Alice Hawkins, Sheila Deloach, Darla Daniels, DiAnne Taylor, Beverly Mann, Renae Wise, Rena Soles, Willene Grubbs, Emma Jean Spires, Susan Key Brown, Jeanette Cadwell, Karen Chapman, Tracey Graham, Mary Graham, Norma Lee Taylor, Vicky Hardeman, and Cindy Eckles.
Serving as musicians for the preservice music are Daniel Hinson, Mary Graham, Lisa Hardy and Reverend Tim Barnes.
Serving as musicians for the service are her son Roy Grenade and special friend Sophia Joiner Danforth. Pam Southerland will be reading a poem during the service.
In lieu of flowers, Victoria asked for contributions to be made in her memory to Eastman Garden Club, c/o Helen Green, Treasurer, 709 Fifth Avenue, Eastman, Georgia 31023.
