Mr. Tommy Greene, age 73, of Eastman, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 17, 2026. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Hardy – Towns Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2026 in the sanctuary of First Methodist Church of Eastman, Georgia at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating. The family will accept friends for a reception in the social hall following the service.
Mr. Greene was born February 19, 1953 to the late B. C. and Carolyn Greene. He was a natural athlete. After graduating from Dodge County High School in 1971, he attended Southern Miss University on a football scholarship. His love for sports lasted throughout his life and he was a Georgia Bulldog fan, through and through. Attending games with family and friends was a great joy. Mr. Greene was also an avid hunter and fisherman and frequented Lake Eufaula and the Altamaha River. He was also a member of First Methodist Church. His claim to fame was being the highly skilled owner and Pitmaster at Shug’s BBQ and Catering.
Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Cindy Greene; his son, Tom Greene; his brothers, Michael Greene (LeAnn), Phillip Greene (Kay); sister and brother-in-law, Gina and Lonnie Roberts; his nieces and nephews, Melia Harrington (Wil), Georgia Roberts; great nieces and nephews, Wilton Harrington, and Lawson Harrington.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Greene is predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Greene; and his mother and father-in-law, June and Gene Williams.
Omitting flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Methodist Church of Eastman at the church office at 5324 Anson Avenue, Eastman, Georgia 31023.
