Teresa Darlene Caruthers, age 62, of Eastman, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 2, 2023 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Interment to follow in Orphans Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Darlene was born July 7, 1960 in Folkston, Georgia. Darlene retired from McRae Correctional Facility, was a member at Gresston Baptist Church, but is most known for her career in Cosmetology. She obtained various degrees and licenses, including a Masters level education, in Cosmetology but learned most of her skills while working and interacting with her many loyal customers. She was also an integral part in establishing the Cosmetology course load at Oconee Fall Line Technical College. Darlene was also known for her fun-loving personality. She made a friend of all those she associated with and had a way of lighting up any room she entered.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Joey Caruthers; children, Harlie Wingate (Alan) and Colby Caruthers. She is also survived by her mother, Frances Snelgrove Ross. Darlene is survived by her grandchildren that she loved dearly, Kason Caruthers, Chevie Wingate, Jakob Caruthers, Athena Hartman, Marley Burch, and Jase Broussea. She is also survived by siblings, David "Shorty" Snelgrove (Sheene), Jonathan Cartrette, C.J. Cartrette, and Gloria Cartrette;sisters-in-law, Debbie Roland (David) and Amy Richards (Marlon).
Darlene is predeceased by her biological father Nathaniel Cartrette and her adoptive father Clifford Raymond Ross; sisters, Martha Ann Cartrette, Lesa Jean Cartrette; grandmothers, Regina T. Snellgrove and Annie Cartrette as well as her mother and father in-law, Hilda and Gaskell Caruthers.
