Sharon Anita (Shumate) Walizer, 63, of Panama City, FL, passed away on May 7, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery,,
Visitation will be from 10:30 til 11:30 at the funeral home.
Sharon was born on September 21, 1959 in McRae, GA to Mary Shumate and Kary B. Shumate, Sr. On May 26, 1979 Sharon married Jimmy Walizer and they would live a long, wonderful life together; married for 43 years. They have two children, Ben and Carrie. Sharon called many places home over the years and had family and friends (that were like family) in those places – Eastman, GA, Warner Robins, GA, Sherwood, WI, Grove Hill, AL, Verona, WI, and finally Panama City, FL. Sharon had a special place in her heart for all the places she's lived and friends along the way. She was especially fond of her granddaughters Maddie and Charlotte and the excitement they would bring to her house. She enjoyed camping, going to country music concerts, and was even a state champion bowler.
Sharon is survived by her husband James Walizer, her mother Mary Shumate, her brother John Shumate (Barbara J. Shumate), her son Ben Walizer and daughter-in-law Cassie Walizer, her daughter Carrie Walizer, and her two granddaughters Madelyn and Charlotte Walizer. She is also survived by her
mother-in-law Lora Mae Walizer, and sister-in-law Glenda Brown. Sharon is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father Kary B. Shumate, Sr, her brother Kary "Ricky" Shumate, Jr., her sister Kathy Westbrook, and her brother-in-law Julian Lee Walizer.
