Obituary

Ms. Ruth Wells Estes, age 100, of Eastman, Georgia passed away June 22, 2025. Ms. Ruth was born in Kirland, Arkansas on January 26, 1925 to the late Mary Ethel Anderson and Joseph Moye Wells.
Funeral services will be held on July 1, 2025 at the First Methodist Church in Eastman, Georgia at 11:00 am with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral in the social hall. A private interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Ms. Estes was a member of First Methodist Church in Eastman. There, she was a cornerstone in the Wednesday Night Supper program and a founding member of the Joy Fellowship Club. She also enjoyed volunteering for Meals On Wheels and Backpack Ministries. Ms. Estes retired as a school teacher after 44 years. She loved her family beyond measure and enjoyed time with them.
Ms. Estes is survived by her daughters, Shari Giddens and Judy Herrington; her grandchildren, John Giddens (Christina), Benjamin Giddens (Kimberly), Reid Wood (Mary), Herbert Michael Wood (Jill); and her great-grandchildren, Clarke Giddens, Gus Giddens, Savannah Ruth Wood, Jenna Wood, Ella Wood, Aubrey Wood, and Kason Wood.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Estes is predeceased by her husband, Herbert D. Estes and her sister, Evelyn Wells.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the First Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
