Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Hemphill Lee, age 80, of Eastman passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Hemphill and Dr. Donnie Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Lee was born August 31, 1941 in Dodge County to the late Logan and Madie Jones Hemphill. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She was a 1959 graduate of Dodge County High School and Crandall Business College. She fell in love with a Preacher Man and married Billy Lee in 1965. She retired after seventeen years of service from the City of Dublin as a tax clerk. As a beautiful example of a Pastor's wife, she was Co-Founder of a state home for troubled teens called Broken Arrow Ministries and had a card ministry for many years. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading books, and watching westerns. She was a firm believer that apple cider vinegar and honey would cure most anything but Alzheimers. Family says she made the best Coconut Pie and Baked Ham.
Mrs. Lee was always the one taking pictures of her loved ones. She was very sentimental and kept everything her children and grandchildren made for her. She loved the old Gospel Hymns and sang for many years with her parents and siblings in a Gospel group. She liked cutting grass, she said it was like free therapy. Her goats always recognized her voice. When they heard her call out, they would come running. They didn't do this with anyone else in the family. She was a beautiful and strong woman, always sincere and very gentle. Mrs. Lee had the prettiest smile and joy in her heart and made everyone feel like they mattered. She knew how to love and to forgive. She fed many people over the years around her table on Sundays after church, never wouldn't let anyone do without. More than anything, she loved Jesus and Billy Lee.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy Lee; children, Mark Lee (Carmela), Cynthia Simpson (Chuck), and Sandra McKinnon; siblings, Shirley Outland (John) and Dean Hemphill (Patricia); grandchildren, Brooke Watson (Jake), Dakota Lee (Kristen), Ethan McKinnon, Rebecca Burkhalter (Billy), John Lee (Meridith), David McKinnon, Julia McKinnon, Sarah Lee, Warren Fountain, Kevin Simpson (Laurie), Pamela Fountain, and LeAnn Grinstead (Steven); great grandchildren, Jenna, Blake, Gavin, Dawson, Chevy, Grady, Cassidy, Michael, James Dawson, Alexis, Jayda, Shelby, Parker, Kase, Jaycee, S.J., Kristopher, Trevor, Camyrn, Coty, and Catelynn.
The family would like to thank All Ways Caring Home Health (Nancy) and Agape Hospice for their compassion and services.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a love offering be made to Friendship Baptist Church, P.O. box 4434, Eastman, Ga. 31023
