Rosa Cannon Mullis, of Alpharetta, GA, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 81.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 12 noon at Hardy-Towns Funeral Home in Eastman, GA. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Chauncey Cemetery in Chauncey, GA.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett E. "Rhett" Mullis Jr.; her parents, Henry Maxwell Cannon and May Cannon; and her sisters, Sue Spiess, Vivian Davis, Olya Fessard, and Maxine Cannon.
She is survived by her sons, Gene Mullis and Phil Mullis; her grandchildren, Cara Mullis, Bobby Mullis, and Liza Mullis; her sister, Edna Story; her brother, Joe Cannon; and many loving extended family members.
Born in Adel, GA, on February 17, 1944, Rosa graduated from Cook County High School in 1961 and earned her degree in education from Georgia Southern in 1965. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and later transitioned into in Indialantic, FL, and eventually becoming a broker in Roswell, GA.
While attending college, Rosa met her future husband, Rhett. They were married on December 19, 1966, at her childhood home in Adel, GA. Together, they raised a family and were active in their community. Rosa was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, FL.
She found joy in gardening, being active in her sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and, later in life, she discovered a knack for painting. Rosa will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched many lives.
