Mr. Larry Steven Walker, age 72, died Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, after a brave battle with Leukemia. He passed away at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 at Sand Grove Baptist Church in Milan with Rev. Joey Bohannon officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Family Cemetery on Hwy 280.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, April 3, 2022 from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Larry was a member and Deacon at Sand Grove Baptist Church, a 1968 graduate of Dodge County High School and Georgia Southwestern University. He retired from the Dodge County School System after 34 years of service. In addition to teaching thousands of students in Dodge County, he was the owner/operator of Walker Pump Service, enjoyed farming and raising cattle, and tree conservation.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gerry Gay Walker; Children: Sherri (MacKay) Bloodworth, Amy (Anthony) Burch, Jody (Amy) Walker, Lisa (David) Boire, Jesse Walker, and Laura Rhodes; Grandchildren: Madison (Charlie) Sweatte, Lizzie Kate and Walker Bloodworth, Allena Burch, Allie and Claire Walker, James, Aaron, and Lydia Rhodes, and Jesslyn Walker; sister: Diane (Bob) Sumner, and nephews, Thomas (Amanda) Sumner and Lee Sumner.
He is preceded in death by parents Albert Lee (Buddy) and Allene Walker and two infant siblings.
Those serving as pallbearers are Walker Bloodworth, Clint Walker, Trey Bowen, Brian Watkins, Gerald Gay, Thomas Sumner, and Jimmy McAnally.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sand Grove Baptist Church (ICO Mike Watkins, 21 Watkins Lane, Milan GA, 31060), or to Hospice Care Options in Eastman GA.
