Karen Elizabeth (Poyfair) Olsen, 77, peacefully passed away July 17th, 2017 after a brief illness.
She was born August 3rd, 1939 in the town of Lockport, New York. She was an amazing mother to Kristin Tanner (Leland), Erika Richards (Don) and Sam Olsen (Lisa). She was a loving grammie to Amanda, Haley, Stuart, Cameron, Mitchell and Savannah; and a great grandmother to Addison and Abigail.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Blanche Poyfair; 3 brothers Richard Poyfair, Michael Poyfair and Russell Poyfair as well as her dear sister in law Diane Poyfair. She is survived by her siblings Butch Poyfair, Penny Maki, Denise Gugliuzza, Jeanne Poyfair, and Paula Poyfair.
Karen was a career legal secretary in both Lockport, NY and Tampa, FL earning recognition and praise from her peers and firms. She was an avid gardener and was always proud to show off her latest finds. Karen raised her children alone in the 70's and was the bravest person her kids ever knew. A lifetime of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis led her to meet many medical professionals and all of them hold a dear place in our hearts for the care and loving attention they provided.
We pray daily for the caretakers of the infirm and elderly in our community.
Private family services will be held at a later date in her hometown, Newfare, NY.
