Mr. John Frederick Lay, age 85, of Eastman, Georgia passed away at home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 surrounded by family. The family will host a Celebration of Life at Dubois Baptist Church on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Art Campbell and Rodney King officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Lay was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 12, 1940 to the late Bertha Marie Folk and Rudolf Furl Lay. He moved to Georgia in the 1980’s when he took a job at Boeing in Macon as a computer programming system analyst. It was then that he met his loving wife of 40 years, Beverly Bennett Lay. Mr. Lay was a God-fearing man who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Dubois Baptist Church.

Mr. Lay is survived by his wife, Beverly Lay; his children, Bryan Lay of Utah, Patricia Price (Duane) and Katie Lay; his granddaughters, Brittany Lay and Savannah Bennett (Nicolas); his great grandchildren, Travis Beard of New Jersey and Grace Bennett; his brother, Bob Lay of Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law; Karen Jarrard (James) of Perry, GA, Jim Fennell (Cathy) and Faye Lavonne Kirkley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lay is predeceased by his infant son, Freddie John Lay; and his sister, Beneva Kolbe of Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dubois Baptist Church.
