Mr. John C. Eckles Jr, age 73, of Monticello, GA, died Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Pruitt Health in Toomsboro, GA.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 til 3 p.m.
Mr. Eckles was a native of Dodge County and a 1967 graduate of Dodge County High School. He joined the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Mr. Eckles worked as a millwright with Georgia Pacific. He was an avid fisherman and survivalist. He was the son of the late J.C. Eckles and Valeria Eckles.
He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Gilmore Eckles, and stepson, Paul Gilmore.
He is survived by his mother, Valeria Burnham Eckles; son, Jay Eckles (Tiffany); grandchildren, Tanner Eckles and Emma Eckles; stepdaughter, Cathy Gilmore; sisters, Susan E. Dean (Sonny) and Kathy E. Love (Kurt); Nephews, Rob Peacock and Trey Dean (Mindy).
