Mr. John B. Coffee, age 76, died Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Coffee was born November 1, 1946 in Macon, Georgia and was a devoted son of Grady and Marjorie Coffee. He was owner and operator of Coffee's Gym in Marietta, Georgia for 36 years. Mr. Coffee graduated from Dodge County High School, and attended Georgia Southern University and Middle Georgia College. He also served in the National Guard. He was considered a pioneer and legend in the world of women's weightlifting. He served as an assistant women's weightlifting coach for an Olympic team and won 19 Women's Olympic Weightlifting Championships. He was inducted into the Weightlifting Hall of Fame as a coach. Mr. Coffee was an avid reader of history and warfare. He touched many people's lives with his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Zoe Rozier and numerous cousins.
