Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Eastman, Ga. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 1 p.m.
Jessie was a "people person" and will be remembered for her warm, contagious smile and heart that touched the lives of so many people over the years. She was a kindergarten assistant teacher at Ocean City Elementary School and for several years operated a preschool from her home. Jessie was an avid reader and writer, she often kept journals of her travels and childhood memories. She was affectionately called, "The Garage Sale Queen," because she was always looking for treasures. Most of all, she loved the Lord, her family and any child she ever met. Jessie was the best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ever hope or pray to have.
Jessie was a Christian and served her Lord as an active member of Wright Baptist Church. She was the Preschool and Sunday School Director for many years and was affectionately known as "Mama Miller," often times placed flowers and notes of love in the classrooms. Jessie was a Certified Florida Baptist Convention Leader, leading Sunday School Training Conferences and Workshops throughout North Florida. She was instrumental in starting what is now known as the Haiti Bargain and Bake Sale for Truth Evangelist Ministries which ministers to the Haitian people.
Jessie is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lewis Miller of Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughters, Cheryl (Dan) Andrews of Lawrenceville, GA, Dianne (Danny) Chase of Duluth, GA, Billie Mozley of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Brooke (Rick) Hollis of Fort Walton Beach, FL; sisters, Florine Martin of Eastman, GA, and Ollie Thrift of Nahunta, GA; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, James Vance Ross; and brothers, Raymond Rooks and Randy Rooks.
