Obituary

Jane Fordham Tison, age 80, passed away on July 14, 2022. Mrs. Tison was born July 17, 1941 in Eastman GA and was reared on her family's farm in Plainfield GA. Jane was educated in the Eastman public schools and graduated in 1959 from Dodge County High School. She earned an Associate's Degree from Middle Georgia College in 1961. She graduated from the Woman's College of Georgia in 1963 with a B.A. in Home Economics. She earned a Master of Education degree from Georgia College in 1974.
Jane began her teaching career in Warner Robins GA and then taught in Eastman, New Orleans LA, and Atlanta GA from 1964 to 1971. In 1966, she married James H. Tison and they began a relationship that would last nearly 56 years. They lived in New Orleans, Atlanta, and Tampa as Jim pursued his medical career. Their first child Eve was born in Atlanta. Their second child Harmon was born in Tampa. They moved back to Eastman in 1976 where she became a homemaker.
Throughout her eighty years, Jane was a lover of many things but the most important things in her life included her family, faith, cooking, and music. Jane delighted in spending time with her family during her early years in Plainfield (including siblings and cousins). As she grew older she enjoyed the blessings of her own family as well as many nieces and nephews. For the past nineteen years her "Grands" have been the focus of her attention. As a follower of Christ, Jane spent many years serving her local church through the gift of music no matter where she lived. She played organ and piano which brought her much joy. She made certain that others knew how important her faith was in her life.
Her kitchen was a place of creativity. She was known for the exquisite meals she prepared for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Throughout a life well lived, Jane shared her gifts with the purpose of making others' lives better and glorifying God for the blessings he bestowed on her.
Jane is survived by her husband, Dr. James Harmon Tison of Eastman; daughter, Eve Tison London (Allen) of Macon GA; son, Richard Harmon Tison (Jackie) of Flowery Branch GA; sister-in-law, Ann Tison Holliday (Jim) of Georgetown, TX.
