Mrs. Jane Johnson, age 89, of Eastman, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Hardy-Towns Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 5:00pm with a visitation one hour prior. Mr. Reggie Sheffield will officiate the service. Mrs. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church of Eastman. She had an impressive career with IBM where she was an inspector of computer chips for the Trident Nuclear Submarine program. She enjoyed her work and eventually retired from IBM. In her free time, she was skillful in bowling, volleyball, and playing piano and organ. She also loved cooking, traveling and the Atlanta Braves.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, James Johnson (Linda); her grandchildren, Ryan Johnson (Brandi) and Wil Johnson (Christy Spooner Johnson); her great-granddaughter who was the light of her life, Kathryn Johnson; as well as her sisters-in-law, Coralie Kerwin Wright and Evelyn Durham; and her special friends, Ron and Barbara Durham.
Mrs. Johnson is predeceased by her parents, Thomas M. Durham and Ruth Jane Durham; her brother Tom Durham; her daughter Kathy Johnson; as well as her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, William C. Johnson.
The family of Mrs. Johnson wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Dogwood Gardens Senior Living, where Mrs. Johnson lived for the past seven years, for their care and compassion. Mrs. Johnson was treated like family and was happy to call Dogwood her home.
