Mr. James Matthew Yawn, Jr., age 80, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Providence Primitive Baptist Church in McRae, Georgia.
Mr. Yawn was born June 27, 1945 to the late Louise Fleming and James Matthew Yawn, Sr. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from the Georgia Correctional Industry. Mr. Yawn was brilliant mind and was known to be able to repair anything, especially sewing machines. He was also very creative and loved painting artistically. He enjoyed travelling and time outdoors. Overalls, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat was his outfit of choice. Mr. Yawn was a true friend of God and served as a deacon at Providence Primitive Baptist Church where he loved Christ and his fellow Christians.
Mr. Yawn is survived by his son, James Matthew Yawn, III (Jennifer); his beloved grandchildren, Jacob Matthew Yawn, Joanna Charlene Yawn, and Josiah Ezra Yawn; siblings, Richard Yawn (Debbie), Ray Yawn (Betty Jean), and Kay Rowland (Chris); many nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companions, Apple Jack and Jefferson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Yawn was predeceased by his wife, Vonnie Lee Livingston Yawn; and his brother, Kendall Yawn
