Mr. James Ira Thomas, age 86, of Eastman died Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Peele & Rev. Tommy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Orphans Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 til 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomas, a loving husband, father, and grandfather . He was a member and former Deacon of Eastman First Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a retired Vice President of Stuckey's Inc., former Rotarian and an avid golfer making fourteen holes-in-one.
He is survived by daughter, Glenda Ellington (Carl) of Macon; son Jimmy Thomas (Nancy) of Rabun Gap; granddaughter, Leslie Ann Ellington of Macon.
Mr. Thomas was predeceased by wife, Dorothy Clark Thomas; parents, Blanche Stuckey and Adrian Thomas; siblings, Florence Southerland, Martha Lee Coody Abel, Margaret Nelson, Grace Ellis, Buddy Thomas, and A.L. Thomas.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers including Michelle, Patricia, Rachel, and Anna.
