Mr. Herschel Harper, age 87, of Eastman died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Cowles and Rev. James Aycock officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 til 8 p.m.
Mr. Harper was a member of Eastman First United Methodist Church and a retired Locomotive Engineer with Southern Railway.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Lunsford Harper of Eastman; daughter, Kathryn Pingel of Orange Park, Fl; son, Michael Harper (Katherine) of Dexter, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kristen Moreland (Scott) and Timothy Pingel (Denise); one great grandchild, Daniel Moreland; two grandchildren of the heart, Allison Gray and Brandon Beck.
Mr. Harper was predeceased by son, Cecil D. Meeks and son-in-law, Frederick Pingel.
