Mrs. Hazel B. Youngblood, age 91, of Eastman died on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27 and the Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home in Eastman. Interment will be in the Bay Springs Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Plainfield.
Mrs. Youngblood was born March 5, 1926 in Dodge County and was the daughter of the late Samuel Augustus "Gus" Burch and Grace Elizabeth Taylor Burch. She grew up in Ocilla, GA and graduated from Ocilla High School in 1943. She began work with Bell South in Macon, GA after graduation and was then transferred to Atlanta and retired from Bell South after a 45-year career. She made her home in Atlanta for over 40 years before returning to Eastman in 2007.
She survived a near death car accident, where she lost her first husband in 1952, but went on to live a long wonderful life. She was a sweet humble lady who always thinking of others, following the example of her Savoir Jesus Christ and her creator Jehovah God. She was the granddaughter of Ben M. and Emma Womble Burch and Martin and Nancy Parkerson Taylor all of Dodge County.
In addition to her parents and grandparents she is predeceased by a son, Karl Tanner; husbands, Fred Tanner and Jim Youngblood; brother, Carlton S. Burch; nephew, Tim J. Smith, and a great nephew, Tim M. Smith; brother-in-law, Willard Smith and nephew-in-law, Ottis Barton.
She is survived by her sister, Ernestine B. Smith or Eastman; nieces, Jan Burch Barton of Tifton and Kathy G. Smith of Eastman; nephew, Chad W. Smith of Eastman; great-nieces, Tonia Waldrop (Lee) and Jana Jackson (Dusty) both of Tifton, great nephews, Jason C. Smith (Jennifer) of Dallas and Jarrett M. Smith of Atlanta; great-great nieces, Courtney Waldrop and Amber Waldrop of Tifton and Makenna Grace Smith of Dallas; great-great nephew, Dylan Jackson of Tifton.
The family will at the home of Ernistine Smith, 322 Harrison St., Eastman. Ga
