Mrs. Gladys Shadix Coody, age 88, of Eastman died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Rev. Fred Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Coody Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Coody was born April 16, 1929 in Dodge County to the late Anna Newberry Shadix and James T. Shadix. She was a lifelong caregiver to family and a member of Antioch #1 Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Stuckeys and a homemaker.
She is survived by children, Patricia Wilkins (Jack) of Gray, Ga., Jimmy Coody (Dianne) of Eastman, Ga., and Donnie Coody (Shelby Birch) of Greenville, S.C.; Grandsons, Jordan Coody, Daniel Coody; step grandson, d Trenton Wilkins; great grandchildren, Abbie, Ava, and Aubrey Coody.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Coody; grandchildren, Jason Coody and Mary Coody; six siblings.
In addition to flowers, the family request memorials to Orphans Cemetery or Antioch #1 Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family will be at 1224 Coody Road, Eastman, Ga.
