Mrs. Freida C. Horne, age 94, of Eastman died Friday, April 6, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Orphans Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Peele officiating.
Mrs. Horne was born in Wilcox County, grew up in Hawkinsville and moved to Eastman in 1938. She was the daughter of the late Dallas C. and Claude D. Chalker. She was the widow of Harold J. Horne and preceded in death by siblings, Tom Chalker and Hazel Ley.
Mrs. Horne was a dedicated licensed Funeral Director for over sixty years making her one of , if not the oldest, Licensed Funeral Directors in Georgia. She and husband, Harold co-owned and operated Horne Funeral Home with son Harold J. Horne Jr. and daughter-in-law, Joyce.
She was a member of Eastman First Baptist Church, a charter member of Eastman Pilot Club, and Eastern Star.
Survivors are son, Harold J. Horne Jr.; daughter-in-law, Joyce Horne; grandchildren, Mandy Eley (Kendall) and Matt Horne (Ashley); great grandchildren, Erin, Davis, Macy, and Jackson; sister, Kennedy Huff; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6 til 8.
