Mrs Florine R. Martin "Mamo", age 93 of Eastman died Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will held at 11 am, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Antioch #1 Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Martin was born December 11, 1928 in Eastman, Georgia to the late Daisy Bell Wynn and Vance Rooks. She was a member of Antioch #1 Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 60 years. She was also active in WMU, Mission Friends, Antioch Home Demonstration Club, and participated in a Mission Trip to Alaska. She taught people to read with a literacy program, volunteered at the Christian Life Center since the opening, and was known for her Feather Ministry. She was the recipient of the Magnolia Lifetime Achievement Award for the Georgia Woman of the Year presented by the Georgia Commission on Women.
She is survived by children, Jan Parkerson (Mike), Karen Rackley (Scott), Marie Yawn (Tony), Douglas F. Martin Jr. (Sandra), and Randy Martin (Maudie); grandchildren, Robin Rabun, Rhonda Partridge, Raina Smith, Amanda Martin, Fess Parkerson, Caleb Parkerson, Jody Johnson, Shannon Giddens, Adam Martin, Kyle Rackley, and Emily Rackley; thirteen great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Douglas F. Martin Sr., son Charles Martin, siblings, Raymond Rooks, Delacy Rooks, Jessie Miller, and Ollie Thrift.
