Mr. Eli Martin Evans (W04, GA National Guard, retired) died peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Born on May 12, 1931, in Eastman (Dodge County), GA, to Eli M. and Louise Smith Evans, he was a resident of Hinesville for 55 years. He was a retired Georgia National Guard Warrant Officer and a civil serva nt at MATES on Fort Stewart for
38 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents;a brother, James Earl Evans; sisters, Eula
Mae Ashley, Hortense Woodard, Christine Evans, Grace Ratledge, and Hazel
Wiley.

Survivors Include his wife of 58 years, Gwen Evans; daughter, Karen Tatum (Gene) of Glennville,GA; sons, Eric Evans of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL,and Keith Evans (Teri) of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Andy Woodard (Hanna h) of Macon,GA, Evan Woodard (Allison) of Millen, GA, and Sam and Emily Evans of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; niece,Marlene Buchanan (Snell); and a nephew, Sonny Woodard (Linda).
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, March 24,2015, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eastman,GA. Honorary pallbearers will be the Georgia National Guard Retirees of Hinesville.
