Mr. Douglas F. Martin, age 88, of Eastman died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2p.m., Thursday, February 27 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Rev. Fred Parker and Rev. Adam Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8p.m.
Mr. Martin was a member and Deacon of Antioch Baptist Church #1. He was a farmer and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the two time Dodge County Farmer of the Year and a WWII Veteran, receiving a Purple Heart as well as a Bronze Star. Mr. Martin was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by his wife, Florine Martin; children, Jan Parkerson (Mike), Karen Rackley (Scott) of Macon, Marie Yawn (Tony) , Charles Martin (Dorothy),Douglas F. Martin Jr. (Sandra), Randy Martin (Maudie); sister, Ruby Nicholas; eleven grandchildren, Robin Rabun, Rhonda Partridge, Raina Smith, Amanda Martin, Fess Parkerson, Caleb Parkerson, Jody Johnson, Shannon Giddens, Adam Martin, Kyle Rackley, and Emily Rackley; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-granchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Charlie Franklin Martin and Samuel Edward Martin.
Those serving as pallbearers are Craig Smith, Fess Parkerson, Caleb Parkerson, Kyle Rackley, Adam Martin and Jody Johnson.
