Col. Alfred Danner, age 94, of Eastman died Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 9 from 6 til 8 pm at Hardy-Towns Funeral Home.
Col. Danner was born May 14, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mary and Oscar Danner. Col. Danner was a loving husband, father and Gpa. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and retired from the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He provided great service to the community including initiating the JROTC program at DCHS in 1984, where he was a senior army instructor. He was an integral part of starting the Dodge Literacy Program and Dodge County Fishing Rodeo. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club. Col. Danner enjoyed participating in Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and many other community events.
Col. Danner is survived by his wife, Kathleen Danner; children, Therese (Doug) Leiser, Al Danner (Leann), Dawn Cox (Bill), Tom Danner, William Danner, Eric Danner (Windy), Lisa Simmons (Darin), and Sonya Coleman; grandchildren, Anne Marie Fuller (Jeremy), Drew Danner (Kara), Nick Leiser, Heather Harp (Samuel), Daniel Danner (Emily), Bryan Leiser (Sidney), Ethan Danner, Jayda Danner, Evan Danner, Danner Simmons, Darci Simmons, Liam Coleman, Ashley Brawner, Laura Fischer, Heather Stanley, Allyson Archer, John Stevens III, and Billy Cox III; and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, David Danner and six siblings.
