Obituary

Mr. Bobby Earl Hickman, age 87, of Eastman, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Bobby Joiner and Mike Grenade officiating. Visitation will follow the service.


Mr. Hickman was born on December 4, 1938, to the late O. P. and Ruby Hickman. After completing grade school, he served in the United States National Guard for nine years.


Mr. Hickman took great pride in his work and excelled in the many business ventures he pursued. He was a poultry and tobacco farmer, raised chickens and produced high-quality tobacco. He also owned rental properties, owned and operated H&S Recycling Company, built custom furniture, and developed and managed Lake Destiny. In all of his endeavors, his goal was to create places where people could gather, have fun, and enjoy the company of others.


He had a deep love for animals, but above all, his family was the greatest treasure in his life.


Mr. Hickman is survived by his children, Machele Whatley (Greg), Tony Earl Hickman, and Shawn Hickman (Melissa); his grandchildren, Anna Santiago (Frank), Heath Whatley, Brent Hickman, Ryan Hickman (Brandi), and Chelsey Byrd (John); his great-grandchildren, Mikaela Santiago, Laiklyn Santiago, Jameson Hickman, Harper Beasley, River Rae Byrd, one great-grandchild on the way Remi Raine Byrd; Angel Singletary (Jake); his sister, Jewel Stuckey (Tracy); and his nieces and nephews, Dianne Lovett (Griffin), Felicia Stapleton (Bill), Terri Moore (Ted), and Chris Stuckey (Audrey).


In addition to his parents, Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Hickman; his son, Dale Hickman; and his siblings, Katheryn Smith and Gylen Hickman.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Christian Academy, 5107 Oak Street, Eastman, Georgia 31023; the American Cancer Society; or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
