Mrs. Betty Ann Hardin Harrington, age 95, passed peacefully away on March 4, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church of Eastman with visitation one hour before. Interment will follow at Orphans Cemetery.
Mrs. Harrington was born on December 15, 1929 to the late Lillian Gertrude Horne and Silas H. Hardin. As an exemplary citizen, she was an Elder Emeritus member and lay pastor at First Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden Club, the Murrell Memorial Library Board, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She attended West Georgia University and the University of Georgia where she was an Alpha Alpha Pi Sorority member. While there, she attained a degree in Home Economics and a teaching certificate. Above all of these accomplishments, she was most proud of her loving family and unbreakable faith.
Mrs. Harrington is survived by her children, Scooter Harrington (Catherine), Mac Harrington (Gloria), John Harrington (Priscilla), and Lee Ann Fortson (Alvin); her grandchildren, Wil Harrington (Melia), Ellen Harrington, Si Harrington, Vail Fortson, Ann Bowdre Clayton (Jordan), Kaitlin Fordham, Kelli Harrington (Travis), Kendel Bryant (Calab), Preston Harrington, and Taylor Harrington; her great-grandchildren, Lawson and Wilton Harrington, Vance Fordham, Olivia Harrington, Shea Clem, Tessa Harrington, Kimber, Calab Wesley, and Colter Bryant, and Ford and Ann Carter Clayton; her sister-in-law, Beverly H. Hardin; as well as devoted and dear friend, Mae Coley.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrington is predeceased by her husband, Wilton D. Harrington; her bother, Silas Hardin Jr.; sister, Dorthy H. Chapman; as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, Drexel Chapman, Catherine Fletcher, Lovett Fletcher, Dr. E. M. Harrington Jr., and Betsy Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Eastman, Georgia at 5334 Oak Street.
