SPRADLEY, Marilyn Mallard Spradley died peacefully at home on November 24, 2015 in Eastman, GA at the age of 84. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Louise Cannon Mallard. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, the 27th of November at 1:30 p.m. at Hardy Towns Funeral Home in Eastman. The family will receive friends following the service. Rev. Wayne McDaniel will officiate the ceremony, with Marilyn’s grandson, Julius Odell Spradley, III assisting. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Watson Spradley of the home, brother William Cannon Mallard of Decatur, and her children James Watson Spradley, Jr. (Frances) of Nashville, TN, Melissa “Missy” Spradley Collins (Randy) of Wheeler County, GA, Kenneth Mallard Spradley (Lisa) of Nashville, TN, Neil Bryan Spradley (Rae) of Eastman, and Meredith “Duffy” Spradley Spradley (Jody) of Rock Hill, SC. Surviving grandchildren are Joseph Meir Spradley of Los Angeles, CA, Laurie Hunt Spradley of New York City, NY, Julius Odell Spradley, III “Tripp” (Annie) of Dallas, Texas, Mary Cannon Spradley of Birmingham, AL, Henry James Spradley of New Orleans, LA, William Lamar Collins of Wheeler County, GA, Cannon Hayes Spradley, of Rock Hill, SC, Jamie Watson Spradley, of Nashville, TN, Walker Thomas Spradley of Eastman, GA, Andrew Gordon Collins, of Wheeler County, GA, and Neil Perry Spradley of Eastman, GA. Marilyn graduated from Toccoa Falls Preparatory Institute before completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University and teaching at Georgia Baptist Hospital. She was devoted to her family and her church, First Presbyterian of Eastman. She was accomplished in the art of needlework, mastering Japanese embroidery after decades of training. Marilyn will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and self-sacrifice, and will be loved by the many lives she touched.
