Diana Pearce Boire David, age 81, of Hawkinsville passed away at Pinewood Manor nursing home on August 9, 2022. Diana was a 1963 graduate of Judson College in Marion, AL, where she studied History and Spanish. She continued her foreign language studies during a semester at the University of Mexico, and through her travels to Puerto Rico. Always an adventurous soul, she began her first career as a Delta Airline stewardess. One of her favorite places to visit, she truly embraced the people and culture of Ireland, the birthplace of her maternal grandparents. Diana later earned a degree in nursing and had a long career as a rehab nurse.
Ever the social butterfly and story teller, she used her wit and charm to entertain her family and friends with merry tales of her youthful escapades. Among her many talents and gifts, she was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader, a gardener, and an was extremely talented in her sewing skills. She enjoyed making dresses for her granddaughters and nieces, quilting, and sewing beautiful drapes for her home. She also loved to create mosaic-tiled bird baths, some of which were donated for different events in Hawkinsville.
As a longtime member of St. Lukes Episcopal church, she was a very active member and enjoyed sharing her beautifully grown flowers in the sanctuary. Diana also loved to spend time as a volunteer at the Hope Center in Hawkinsville.
Diana is survived by her husband of 30 years, James "Russ" David. The couple moved to Hawkinsville in 1992, and restored one of the oldest homes in Hawkinsville, located on Anderson Rd. Diana also leaves behind sons Brian Boire (Megan) of Senoia, GA, and David Boire (Lisa) of Griffin, GA, step-daughter, Catherine Boire of Garden Grove, CA. She was known as "D.D." to her grandchildren Madison Sweatte (Charley), Bryce Boire, and Naya Boire.
She will also be dearly missed by her two younger sisters, Nancy Knowles (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM, and Ann Childs of Hawkinsville, GA. She was preceded in death by their baby brother, Leighton Pearce.
Diana also leaves behind devoted step-daughters Vicky Head (Steve) of Seneca, SC, Janet Coley (Phil) of Ashburn, GA, step-son Jerry David of Rock Hill, SC, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Diana was also a loving "Aunt Danny" to numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tues, August 16, 2022 at 11 AM at Riverside Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, GA. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverside Baptist Church, C/O Jenelle Stokes, 11 Ryan Street, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.
